How we support Maui Fire survivors
Durable Medical Equipment Donation collection & Distribution
Our “Maui Loan Closet” is a central online database for durable medical equipment donations and distribution.
Disaster Recovery Advocacy & Navigation
We help support wildfire survivors with disabilities as they navigate the challenging system of recovery.
How it started
When the 2023 Maui wildfires hit, we were there to receive survivors in shelters. We worked alongside medical teams from day one to identify people with disabilities and those with complex medical cases, advocating for their needs and connecting them to vital services and medical care. We realized quickly that we would need to replace large quantities of durable medical equipment like wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs and more. We jumped into action and started sourcing these items from our community and then beyond. We have put together a "disability hui" of organizations and agencies who are working together to ensure Maui's most vulnerable don't fall through the cracks.
How it’s going
Durable (& Consumable) Medical Equipment
The Maui Loan Closet has become a central resource to the Maui community, and now reaches to the other island of Hawaii. We have a central database of donated equipment ready to deploy as needed.

Ways to support the Loan Closet:
We continue to seek donated items via our Amazon wishlist. We are consistently updating needs on this list, please check it out!
Community Building & Resilience
HQ, our office location in central Maui has become a resource in the community for both individuals and other grassroots organizations who need space to meet and carry out their missions. We hold support groups, community events and store our gear there. If you need space for an event, group or to meet with your clients, please reach out!
Help us sustain this accessible community space by making a donation.
Supporting Disaster Survivors
As we have moved through the 2023 wildfire recovery, we remain committed to helping survivors move through the systems and get the resources they need. We work hand in hand with organizations supporting survivors to ensure that no one gets left behind.
In the wake of the most recent Kona low flooding across Hawaii, we have expanded our reach to include a state-wide response to these disasters. Please reach out for support.
